Editorial policy

Editorial independence
We are an independent editorial directory, not a lead broker or referral agency. Rankings come only from our Directory Score, computed from independent third-party reviews (Google, Trustpilot and others). No clinic can pay to rank higher, raise its score, change its tier, or alter a review. We charge no commission, no inquiry fee, and no per-patient fee.
A clinic may pay for an Enhanced Profile (extra photos, an about narrative, an interview) or carry a Verified Partner badge or a Featured listing. These affect presentation only. They are always labeled, use rel="sponsored"on any outbound link, and never move a clinic’s ranking, Directory Score, tier, or the reviews and editorial text we publish about it.
Clinic inclusion criteria
A clinic is eligible for listing only if all of the following can be independently verified:
- At least one named surgeon with verifiable board certification in orthopedic surgery (or regional equivalent)
- An active, public clinical practice — verified via hospital affiliation, regulatory registration, or both
- Evidence of performing limb lengthening procedures (not just listed among dozens of generic orthopedic services)
- A contactable business with a persistent public presence (minimum 12 months)
Clinics that fail verification are excluded. We publish an "excluded for cause" note where the exclusion reason is in the public interest (e.g. regulatory action).
Medical content review
Any page that discusses symptoms, treatment selection, outcomes, risks, recovery, or complications is checked through a structured, multi-pass verification process before publication, with human editorial sign-off. Each clinical claim is traced to a primary source, checked for risk-disclosure completeness, and verified against current regulatory and pricing information. This verification is AI-assisted; final accountability for what is published rests with our editorial team. We describe the full process — and its limits — on our medical review and verification page.
Sources and citations
- Primary sources (peer-reviewed journals, regulatory bodies, hospital systems) are preferred.
- We avoid citing single-source patient anecdotes as evidence; we cite aggregate outcomes data or cohort studies where available.
- Every claim about efficacy, safety or complication rate is cited.
Review authenticity
Patient reviews published on this site are subject to the following protocol:
- Submitted via a form requiring an email address
- We request optional evidence (surgery date, partial documentation) before assigning a "Verified" badge
- Reviews without evidence are still published if they appear authentic, but marked "Unverified"
- Reviews from emails that match known clinic domains are rejected automatically
- Paid reviews, whether solicited by us or the clinic, are prohibited
Corrections policy
Factual errors are corrected promptly. When a material fact is corrected after publication, we add a dated correction note at the bottom of the article. Minor copy-editing is not logged.
To request a correction, email [email protected] with the page URL and a description of the issue.
Conflicts of interest
Editorial staff disclose any financial relationships with clinics, device manufacturers, or related entities. Where a material conflict exists, content involving that entity is re-verified independently and the relationship is disclosed on the affected page.
Outside contributors, reviewers and their affiliations
Some of our clinical and rehabilitation content is written or reviewed by practising clinicians — surgeons, physicians and physiotherapists. Almost all of them work at or with a clinic, and many of those clinics are listed in this directory. We think named, affiliated experts are better than anonymous ones, but only under strict rules:
- Every contributor’s affiliations, current and former, are published on their profile page and their identity is verified before anything appears under their name.
- Contributors are not paid by us, and they do not pay us, to write or review. A clinic’s partner status buys presentation, never authorship of our editorial content.
- A contributor never reviews, writes about, scores, tiers or ranks a clinic they work for or have worked for — nor any of its direct competitors’ listings.
- Contributors work on educational content only. Which clinics are listed, what tier they hold and how they rank is decided by the editorial team and by our published Directory Score formula, which is computed from public review data and cannot be influenced by a reviewer.
- Reviewers check clinical and practical accuracy. They do not have the power to add, remove or soften anything about a clinic, and their sign-off is stamped with the date they gave it.
- Where a contributor’s affiliation touches the subject of a page, we say so on that page rather than in the small print.
Advertising and sponsorship
- Advertising placements are visibly labeled as such.
- No advertising appears on clinic comparison pages or individual clinic profile pages.
- Sponsored content is prohibited.
