Background
Augustin Betz founded the original BETZ INSTITUTE® in Wadern, Saarland, and over more than 20 years perfected the minimally invasive intramedullary approach to cosmetic limb lengthening. He developed the Fitbone II® (electrically driven) nail and co-invented the BETZBONE® (mechanical). He now operates from Wadern while the Freiburg clinic — run by his long-term collaborator Dr. Becker — serves as the public-facing successor centre.
