Background
Born in Baltimore, USA and trained at the University of Seville, Dr. Javier Downey Carmona has focused on paediatric orthopaedics since 2004 and was the first surgeon in Andalusia to place intramedullary lengthening nails in a private clinic. He completed advanced fellowships with Drs Paley and Herzenberg in Baltimore and trained directly under Ponseti Method creator Dr. Ignacio Ponseti in Iowa. He is a founding member and president of the Spanish Ponseti Association and has led humanitarian orthopaedic missions in Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
