Background
Professor Ferreira leads the Clinical Unit for Tumour, Sepsis and Reconstruction at Stellenbosch University's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences since 2016 and is a co-founder of the Durbanville Limb Reconstruction Unit (opened February 2023). He directed the Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction Fellowship, training surgeons from around the world. He was President of the South African Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction Society (2016–2023) and is Editor-in-Chief of the South African Orthopaedic Journal. He and Dr Marais were the first surgeons to describe bone transport through an induced membrane.
